Dr. Litman has been an educator since 1973. His appointment at LUCOM marks his third association with an Osteopathic medical school. At the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, he had served as a preceptor and lecturer, and held the academic rank of Clinical Professor. At the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, he had served as Chair of the Department of Osteopathic Principles & Practices, Course Director in Clinical Skills, and Associate Dean for Clinical Sciences, and held the academic rank of Full Professor of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.

He is residency trained and is board certified by the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and the American Board of Osteopathic Internists. He has achieved Fellowship status with the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, The American Academy of Osteopathy and the American College of Osteopathic Internists. As an internal medicine resident he received the honor of Chief Resident.

Professionally, he has held many posts. With the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners, he has been a member of the National Faculty since 2004, and had served as the 2012-14 National Chair for Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. During 2009-10, he did a one-year Fellowship in Health Policy, and continues as an AOA Health Policy Fellow. In Kentucky he served as the 2012-14 President of the Kentucky Osteopathic Medical Association. Most recently in Pennsylvania, he is the Chair of the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine, and has been a member of the board since 2016.

Dr. Litman returns to undergraduate medical education with his appointment to the Office of Clinical Education at LUCOM, after his seven years of service as an AOA and ACGME Program Director in graduate medical education.
